What drives the price of an illuminated sign
Five factors decide most of the cost. Knowing them before you ask for a quotation saves a week of back and forth.
Size comes first, but not the way most people expect. Letter height sets the depth of the letter, the number of LED modules and the size of the power supply, so a sign that is twice as tall usually costs more than twice as much.
Material is second. Acrylic faces on aluminium returns are the workhorse. Stainless steel adds cost in cutting and finishing but lasts longest outdoors. Aluminium composite (Alucobond) is the usual fascia behind the letters.
Illumination type is third: face-lit, back-lit (halo), edge-lit or a combination. Halo lighting needs a stand-off from the wall and a reflective surface behind, which changes the fixing detail.
Access is fourth and the one most often forgotten. A sign at 3 m on a shop street is a ladder job. The same sign at 9 m on a building needs a lift or scaffold, permits and a second crew.
Structure is fifth. If the facade cannot carry the sign, or has no power at the sign line, a frame or cabling run is added. Our site survey answers this before the quotation, not after.
Send a straight-on photo of the facade and the approximate width, and we will give you a budget range within a working day.
